My work has its influence in both my Scottish and East European roots. It is a series of fragments or “criomagan”, and icons, reflecting memories both visual and written. With a family interest in the Gaelic oral tradition and the Gaelic written word, combined with a direct visual reference to the power and beauty of the isolated Scottish Highland landscape, my work is an expressive interpretation of my surroundings. My visual language has developed into an interest in texture and combines printmaking techniques, fabrics and the expressiveness of painting to produce Scottish icons.
